God is love
September 15, 2018A God-centred life

Psalm 1:1 “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful,”
The God-centered person does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly. Can you imagine attempting to gain self-improvement and spiritual stimulation by watching the Jerry Springer Show?
The God-centered person is very careful about relationship/companionship – 2 Cor. 6:14 “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.” We must have contact with unbelievers if we are going to witness to them, but we must not join in or imitate their sinful behavior. If we are walking in the pathway of righteousness (with God, toward heaven, following Christ) why would we stand in the path of the ungodly? The path of ungodly moves in the opposite direction from our destination! The godly person avoids sin, stays on the right pathway, shuns the counsel of the ungodly, etc. In other words, this kind of person stays far away from sin and close to God.
Our thoughts, decisions, attitudes and actions should always line up with the Word of God. The person who lives a God-centered life “shall be like a tree planted” in fertile, well-watered soil that brings forth fruit in its season! Just as a tree soaks up water and bears luscious fruit, we also are to soak up God’s Word, producing actions and attitudes {luscious fruit} that honor God.
