1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
God isn’t saying that we are to walk around all the time talking to Him. He is saying that we are to leave the receiver off the hook and be in an attitude of prayer, so that when needs arise throughout the day, we are constantly ready to call on His name whether it be out loud or silently. Prayer is vitally important to the spiritual life of every Christian.
Our circumstances should never dictate our joy, prayers and thankfulness towards God, because His office is manifold, and His promises are sure. His life is matchless, and His goodness is limitless. His mercy is enough, and His grace is sufficient. His reign is righteous, His yoke is easy, His burden is light, and His love endures forever.
Paul encouraged the Thessalonians than, and we are to be encouraged today, to be joyful, maintain a faithful prayer life, and give thanks in everything. God did not say we had to give thanks “for” everything {Lost of employment, murder of a love one, declining health, heartbreaks, disobedient children, ect.} but “in” everything, give thanks. Let us therefore, continuously give thanks unto the Lord, for “He alone is worthy, knowing that it will work out for our good, Romans 8:28.
Psalm 118:1 “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.”
