New year, New you…again

[note]For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. Romans 11:16[/note]

Congratulations! You made it. Welcome to the new year 2011. Praise God! One month down, eleven to go! Many did not get this same priviledge that you have. Infact, sadly, some people passed away on New year’s eve.
So, what does the new year mean to you? A time to revamp your live? A time to make new promises and hope to stick to them? A time to drop down a dress size? Well, whatever you have planned to do this year, it is important to know that only God’s involvement can make it a success.

Just like the scripture above reveals, it is important to sanctify the begining so that the whole lot can be holy. Commiting God in the year from the begining means that you are asking Him to be involved in every aspect of the year. It means that He can be there to guide you safely through the whole year.

Maybe you have made a new resolution at the start of every year but then realise that before mid-year, you can’t even remember what the resolution was. The meaning of resolution is “firmness of purpose” or “firm determination”. You can ask God to help you to be firm so that you can achieve a specific purpose/plan/task. The bible says in 1 Samuel 2:9 “for by strength shall no man prevail.” It is therefore evident that you need God. No matter how small and meaninless your resolution may seem, just ask God to help you to fufill it. The Lord is interested in every area of your life and no idea is silly before him. Dedicate the year and your resolutions to the Lord and he will guide you through.

Prayer:

[blockquote2]
Dear Father, it is such an honour and priviledge to make it to the new year and live through the first month. I bless your holy name. Therefore, I ask that you be my guide in this new year. Help me Lord by your power to achieve all that I have set out to achieve. Thank you Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen
